Kuehne + Nagel, on its Whitbread and Costa Coffee contract, has deployed Microlise Journey management and ePOD (Proof of Delivery) solutions to future-proof its planning and delivery systems, to support growth and enhance customer experience.

The Microlise Fleet Performance telematics solution has already been successfully installed to support improved fuel economy across the fleet of over 200 vehicles. This technology is now be bolstered by the Microlise Journey Management product, to understand in real time the location of the fleet vs the plan, and to maximise the utilisation of the fleet over time.

Data will highlight performance against schedule and routes, alerting the team to any potential missed time-slots before they’ve happened, to support proactive customer communication.

The Microlise Schedule Execution Board will provide the transport management team with real-time visibility of the fleet, highlighting which jobs have been completed, which vehicles are running late, and more, empowering the team to proactively manage any problems or issues as they arise. Microlise’s Arrival and Departure board will lend additional visibility to incoming deliveries by location, to ensure fast turnaround.

SmartPOD, the mobile component of Microlise’s full Proof of Delivery (POD) product, will also be deployed to provide complete visibility of delivery operations and minimise supply chain challenges.

Drivers will have access to delivery and consignment information via the Zebra TC75 device, with all delivery activities tracked electronically. Additional software features will also support task management, driver communication and provide access to site notes and manifest information.

According to Andrew Blake, National Distribution Manager from Kuehne + Nagel,

“Our growth target for the next five years is an ambitious one and future-proofing our operational system through improved planning, communication and resourcing capacity, is key to delivering on our strategy.”

“The Kuehne + Nagel Whitbread contract team has a keen focus on fleet efficiencies which is commendable,” said Microlise Chief Executive Officer, Nadeem Raza. “We are pleased to be providing additional tools to manage, monitor and positively impact on its operation.”
